Although bearings growth may appears to be fluctuating, it have essentially been growing steadily all along. As for this growth trend, we firstly highlight the air-cooling fan motors for data centers. Due to the increase of investments for data center, bearings will naturally be needed.
The second trend is the contents growth for automotive. As mentioned on this slide, we estimate that the number of bearings used in HEVs is 11% higher than that used in ICEs. In that sense, although we are facing trend shift from EVs to HEVs, we believe that even if EV demand slows down, the growth in HEV sales will cover our demand to some extent.
While it will be a future development, we expect the next business opportunity to be in the area of humanoid robots. A Japanese manufacturer produces a dog-shaped robot equipped with 27 of our bearings. As the size of these robots becomes smaller, the number of bearings equipped with it will increase.
There are three joints in the fingertip, and three reduction gears will be needed. Since each reduction gear is equipped with two bearings, a total of six bearings will be required. If a robot has 10 fingers, we can already foresee a market where 60 bearings will be installed in each fingertip per unit. We will continue to develop products that seize such business opportunities and present that bearings still has a potential to grow.
