Participation in Wildlife Protection Project (Thailand)
Volunteers join a project to plant trees and build water catchments for elephants
In Thailand, active initiatives are being taken to protect wildlife, including the restoration of wildlife habitats through tree-planting and the construction of artificial mud fields to provide salt and other minerals which are in insufficient supply. Many employees of the Group's Thai subsidiaries are volunteering for these activities.
In FY2012, 180 employees of the Lop Buri Plant took part in forestry conservation campaign at Sublungka Wildlife Sanctuary from August 31 to September 1. In November, 20 employees of the Lop Buri Plant participated in a project to plant trees and construct water catchments for elephants in Ban Kang Plakod, Kanchanaburi Province led by the Bring the Elephant Home Foundation. The volunteers planted 300 trees which will serve as food for the elephants and built 71 water catchments.
