Minebea Super Solar Power's solar power generation and storage projects selected for Subsidy Programme for the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) Facility Introduction in FY2025
MinebeaMitsumi Inc. (Head office: Nagano Prefecture; Representative Director, Chairman CEO: Yoshihisa Kainuma; hereinafter "MinebeaMitsumi") is commited to promoting the solar power generation and storage projects in Lopburi and Ayutthaya Provinces, Thailand. These projects are being advanced jointly with NMB-Minebea Thai Ltd. (hereinafter "Minebea Thai")", one of the MinebeaMitsumi Group company, and Super Energy Corporation PCL (hereinafter "Super Energry"), a renewable energy company in Thailand.
Minebea Super Solar Power Ltd. (hereinafter "MSSP") is a joint venture company established in January 2025 by Minebea Thai and Super Energy. MSSP manages a complete set of solar power generation and storage facilities in the business land adjacent to or proximal to Minebea Thai. Direct power supply from these power facilities to Minebea Thai's Lopburi and Ban-pain plants contributes to reduction of GHG emission at the both plants.
These projects have been selected for "Subsidy Programme for the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) Facility Introduction in FY2025*1" by Ministry of the Environment, Japan, as "48MW Solar Power and 60MWh Storage Battery Project in Lopburi Province" and "104MW Solar Power and 129MWh Storage Battery Project in Bang Pa-in, Ayutthaya Province." These two projects are expected to enable MinebeaMitsumi Group to convert 12% of its power consumption to renewable energy, cutting total annual CO2 emission by approximately 64,000 tons*2.
MinebeaMitsumi Group has designated minimizing the environmental impact caused by its business operation as one of its key material issues. The group has set the target of reducing 30% of GHG emission by the fiscal year ending March 2031 (against FY ended March 2021) and achieving carbon neutrality in 2050. These initiatives also include installing and operating solar power generation facilities, as well as procuring and utilizing renewable energy across the group's global network.
Driven by the corporate philosophy "To contribute to realization of a sustainable, eco-friendly and prosperous society by providing better products, at a faster speed, in larger numbers, at a lower cost and by smarter means," MinebeaMitsumi remains committed to achieving decarbonization and lowering environmental impact by cutting GHG emission not only across its own group operation but also those of its customers through product usage.
- *1 Ministry of the Environment, Japan has been implementing the Subsidy Programme for the JCM Facility Introduction, which provides financial support of up to a 1/2 of the initial investment cost for projects. Representative participants in the Projects shall conduct measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) of GHG emission reductions.
In addition, this financing support programme is expected to contribute to global decarbonization by disseminating and deploying advanced decarbonizing technologies while ascertaining in detail the needs of partner countries. These projects are implemented with the cooperation of the governments of Thailand and Japan.
