Release of MEMS Non-Contact Infrared Temperature Sensor "MMS701 / MMS702 Series"
- Meeting Diverse Needs from Home Appliances to Abnormal Thermal Monitoring with High Accuracy and Flexible Installation
MITSUMI ELECTRIC CO., LTD. (hereinafter MITSUMI ELECTRIC), a member of the MinebeaMitsumi Group, has commenced sales of the "MMS701" and "MMS702" thermopile-type compact infrared temperature sensors using MEMS technology.
In recent years, the need for high-precision, non-contact temperature management has been expanding to enhance safety and convenience in home appliances such as air conditioners and refrigerators, non-contact thermometers, and abnormal temperature monitoring systems for servers and other equipment. Our MEMS non-contact infrared temperature sensors (IR sensors) measure surface temperature with high accuracy without physical contact, utilizing the principle of generating thermoelectromotive force according to the amount of incident infrared radiation energy emitted by the target object. The lineup for this series includes the single-element "MMS701," which is suitable for sub-zero temperature environments, and the multi-element "MMS702," equipped with an 8-element array capable of capturing wide-angle temperature distribution. Furthermore, the "MMS703," featuring a narrow field of view and high-frequency noise resistant designed for integration into microwave ovens and other applications, is currently under development, strongly supporting our customers' diverse application development.
Features and Overview
1. Reduced Development Man-Hours with Best-in-Class* Low Noise Performance and Digital Output
- Features best-in-class* low noise performance with a Noise Equivalent Temperature Difference (NETD) of 0.06°C or less, enabling high-precision detection of minute temperature differences.
- Utilizing proprietary calibration technology, temperature values compensated for ambient temperature influences are output directly as digital data via the I2C interface.
- This eliminates the development man-hours required for complex calculations and software design.
2. High Installation Flexibility and Component Cost Reduction via Connector Connection
- Adopts an integrated sensor and connector structure, eliminating the need for a separate dedicated sensor circuit board.
- Harness connection enables flexible installation even in locations away from the main board or where enclosure space is restricted, significantly expanding the range of applicable applications.
3. [MMS701] Low-Temperature Lineup Delivering High Accuracy Even in Sub-Zero Environments
- The single-element MMS701 lineup includes a low-temperature model (L11A) in addition to the room-temperature model (M11A).
- Proprietary compensation technology enables the low-temperature model to maintain high temperature accuracy even in sub-zero environments, achieving measurement under harsher temperature conditions.
4. [MMS702] 8-Element Array (Multi-Element Type) Capable of Wide-Angle Temperature Distribution Measurement
- An array configuration of eight elements lined up in a single row enables pinpoint temperature measurements across a wide angle.
- It can capture a field of view exceeding 50° divided into eight segments (5.5° per element), allowing accurate assessment of temperature unevenness within the detection area.
5. [Under Development:MMS703] Narrow Field of View and Enhanced High-Frequency Noise Immunity for Pinpoint Measurement
- The MMS703 currently under development features a narrow field of view of 9° in the X direction and 6.6° in the Y direction, enabling more pinpoint measurement of target objects.
- Enhanced immunity against high-frequency noise ensures stable temperature measurement even in harsh environments where strong electromagnetic noise is generated.
