MITSUMI ELECTRIC Launches "MMS651 Series," Digital Air velocity Sensor
--Enhancing Energy Efficiency of HVAC/Industrial Equipment with Industry-Leading Measurement Accuracy*--
MITSUMI ELECTRIC CO., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "MITSUMI ELECTRIC"), a group company of MinebeaMitsumi, has launched "MMS651 Series," a digital air velocity sensor achieving industry-leading measurement accuracy*, powered by a compact thermal flow sensor using MEMS technology.
In recent years, demand has surged for high-precision airflow and air velocities management to optimize energy efficiency and maintain strict environmental conditions in applications such as data center server cooling, smart building HVAC/VAV systems, and cleanroom Fan Filter Units (FFU). This "MMS651 Series" achieves even higher measurement accuracy compared to conventional airflow and air velocities sensors. Despite its compact package, the adoption of a connector-type interface significantly enhances installation flexibility.
The lineup includes two models to provide the optimal solution tailored to each customer's specific application: "3 m/s Type (MMS651P003N1)" for measuring low-velocity ariflows like cleanroom downflow, and "10 m/s Type" (MMS651P010N1) for broad applications including air conditioning ducts and fan control.

1. Industry-Leading Measurement Accuracy
Featuring higher measurement precision and temperature stability compared to competitors' products by combining ultracompact MEMS thermal flow sensor chip with correction technology
- MMS651P010N1 (10 m/s Type): ±5 %R.D at air velocities of 4 m/s or more***, ±2 %F.S. at air velocities of less than of 4m/s***
- MMS651P003N1 (3 m/s Type): ±3 %F.S. at air velocities 0.3 m/s or more
- ±2 %F.S./10 °C for temperature changes

2. Industry-Leading** Compact Package and High Installation Flexibility
Featuring the compact size with dimension of 22.5 (W) x 21 (D) x 7 (H) mm. Designed for seamless integration, the sensor can be easily mounted and wired via connector without requiring custom substrates or additional piping. This significantly reduces the time and cost of system setup.
3. Seamless System Integration via Digital Output
Featuring an I2C interface, the sensor performs advanced internal correction calculation (temperature and linearity) to output air velocities directly as digital values. This reduces the processing load on the customer's microcontroller and contributes to shorter development lead times.
4. High Reliability Enabled by Unique Flow Path Design
Unique internal structure featuring separate main and measurement flow paths minimizes dust infiltration into the MEMS sensing element, ensuring long-term reliability.
*** "F.S." and"R.D." stand for "Full Scale" and "Reading", respectively.
%F.S.: Percentage relative to the maximum air velocities within the measurement range.
Example: If the maximum air velocities is 10 m/s with an accuracy of ±2% F.S., the error will be within ±0.2 m/s.
%R.D.: Percentage relative to output value
Example: At an accuracy of ±5% R.D. and an output value of 5 m/s, the error will be within ±0.25 m/s
