[Japan] From "Nothing to Do with Me" to a Complete Turnaround! Students at National Institute of Technology (KOSEN), Asahikawa College Captivated by the World of Semiconductors
On June 18, 2026, 41 second-year students and two faculty members from the Department of Control and Information Engineering at National Institute of Technology (KOSEN), Asahikawa College visited the Chitose Business Division for a plant tour.
While the students initially felt that "IT and semiconductors are somewhat distant fields," learning about the ultra-precision manufacturing processes and how programming technology supports the production site firsthand broadened their horizons all at once. Pleasant surprises spread among them, with comments such as "I never imagined my specialty could be applied here!" and "I gained a deep understanding of what goes on behind the scenes of manufacturing." Every participant rated the tour as "Satisfying," making it a truly valuable day.
The Chitose Business Division will continue to promote smart community collaboration that inspires young talent.
