Participation in Initiatives
MinebeaMitsumi also stress the importance of and strive to fulfill the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, in which we announced our participation in 2012, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted at the UN Sustainable Development Summit 2015.
Support for the United Nations Global Compact
MinebeaMitsumi expressed support for the United Nations Global Compact (the "UNGC") in January 2012.
The UNGC was advocated by former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan at the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 1999, and is clearly supported by current United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
It is a voluntary initiative to participate in the development of a global framework for businesses to act as a good member of society and realize sustainable growth by exercising creative, responsible leadership.
The United Nations Global Compact's Ten Principles
|Human Rights||Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
|Labour||Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour; and
Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
|Environment||Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
|Anti-Corruption||Principle10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.|
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
We also stress the importance of and strive to fulfill the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted at the UN Sustainable Development Summit 2015.
MinebeaMitsumi Group's Key Sustainability Issues (Materiality) were established with reference to the SDGs. We are also working with an awareness of the relevant issues of the SDGs in setting and implementing sustainability targets.
